‘Speak Her Name’ Exhibition Now Open

Although the Museum itself is closed for Winter while we carry out essential cleaning and maintenance, we are very pleased to announce that we are hosting the beautiful ‘Speak Her Name’ community-led exhibition by artists Rachel Carter, Anisha Parmar and Ismail Khokon, featuring work by the Legacy Makers group. We were very pleased to host a visit by Rachel and some members of the Legacy Makers in our Chapel Gallery last week.

A wonderful project for both the artists and participants alike, come and see how the artists have delved into the lives of 100 historic women and represented their previously unheard stories within an incredibly colourful and creative art installation featuring over 300 embroidery hoops.

The exhibition is supported by a book which is available to buy from the Parker’s Yard gift shop, while our café serving drinks, pastries and light meals is also open.

The exhibition will be available until the end of March 2025, but is closed between 13/01/25 and 31/01/25 while building works take place.

Opening Hours: Tuesday to Saturday: 9am – 4pm, closed on Christmas day and with reduced hours of 9-2 on other open days over the holiday period.

Please note that sometimes the Chapel Gallery is temporarily closed while community events are happening. If you are planning a visit which involves travelling a long distance, please call us on  0115 984 6914 so we can confirm that the exhibition will be open when you visit.
