New Accessible Tableware Arrives at Parker’s Yard Café

As part of our ongoing accessibility improvements, we’re pleased to announce the introduction of a range of accessible crockery and cutlery in Parker’s Yard Café.

Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we’ve purchased a selection of specialist tableware designed to make eating and drinking easier for visitors who may benefit from a little extra support.

Our new items include:

  • Easy-grip cutlery with contoured handles to support those with reduced grip strength or limited dexterity.
  • High-sided plates, which help make meals easier to enjoy independently by reducing spills.
  • Double-handled cups, providing greater stability and confidence when drinking.

These additions are just one of a number of improvements we’re making as part of our wider accessibility mission, helping to ensure that everyone can enjoy a visit to the museum and café in comfort.

The new accessible tableware will be introduced in Parker’s Yard Café over the coming weeks. These items will be available for anyone who would find them helpful. Simply ask a member of our café team when ordering, and we’ll be happy to provide them.

To help make visitors aware of this new provision, a note will also be added to all Parker’s Yard Café menus, highlighting the availability of our accessible tableware and encouraging anyone who would benefit from using it to simply ask a member of the team.

We believe that small changes can make a big difference, and we’re grateful to The National Lottery Heritage Fund for supporting us as we continue to make the museum more accessible for all.
