Celebrating Cowslip Sunday in Lambley Village

May 3rd @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
FREE

As part of our May Day celebrations, on Sunday 3rd May,  a team from the Framework Knitters Museum will be based in Lambley Village Hall celebrating the lost springtime tradition of Cowslip Sunday.

Lambley, just 6 miles north of Nottingham, was one of the prime sites for framework knitting during the nineteenth century. This was also the time when Cowslip Sunday was celebrated by the local stockingers and their families.

More details about the history and heritage of Cowslip Sunday can be found here … East Midlands folklore | Folklore of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Lincolnshire | Page 3
