Textile Tales in Ruddington

The first Textile Tales event was held at the Framework Knitters Museum on Friday 28th June and what a fantastic day we had.  Lots of people came to join their ex colleagues and share their stories about their working life in the textile industry in Ruddington and in the area.  We would like to thank everyone who joined us to share their stories and those who came to help out. People brought photo albums showing things such as the Easter Bonnet Parade, the factory shop and what the Cooper and Roe site looked like when it closed down. We saw mending tools, plans and books about the industry.  We carried out 11 interviews altogether and appointments were made with those who wanted to share at a later date.

So if you worked at Cooper and Roe, Malmic Lace or Beeva Garments in Ruddington and were unable to attend this event, please contact us via our web site textiletales.co.uk and we can arrange to hear your story at a time that is convenient for you.
