SUMMARY:Framework Music Night: A Different Thread
DESCRIPTION:Alicia Best from the US and Robert Jackson from the UK met while busking on the cobbled streets of Ireland and discovered both a musical and personal harmony that was serendipitous. \nIn the decade since forming A Different Thread\, Best and Jackson have taken their act on the road\, touring over a dozen countries\, and winning numerous awards. \nTheir sound is transcontinental\, blending Jackson’s British folk rock background with Best’s North Carolina-bred alt-country melodies. \nInformed by their life experiences (navigating visas\, vanlife\, love across oceans) and environmental and social justice topics\, their new album Over Again mixes electric guitars with Appalachian dulcimer\, gospel-tinged vocals with honky-tonk fiddle. While inspired by artists like Gillian Welch\, The Avett Brothers\, and John Prine\, A Different Thread maintains a distinct sound that is all their own. \nAlicia and Robert see the creation of Over Again as a testament to the power that music has to heal and transform: “For us\, this album marks a new beginning\, like a rebirth\, as we shed negative cycles to work towards a brighter future.” \nTo book please visit Buy Framework Music: A Different Thread Tickets online – Framework Knitters Museum \nTo find out more about A Different Thread please visit their website at  A Different Thread and listen to them at A Different Thread – Live Showreel 2025-26

SUMMARY:Framework Words & Music: Twelve Days
DESCRIPTION:An inter-weaving of seasonal poetry and music written\, arranged and performed by Stuart Henson and John Crawford \nRunning time: Approx. 60 minutes \nAward-winning poet Stuart Henson reads from his book of Christmas poems\, accompanied by John Crawford on melodeon and guitar. Get into the festive mood with poems that celebrate Christmases past and present. John’s music\, drawing on the English and European folk traditions\, weaves in and out of lyrics that feature birds\, beasts\, bells\, and the Nativity. \nAs Stuart says\, “Twelve days of Winter celebration. Twelve poems from cards sent over the years at Christmas time. One or two have appeared in books. One became a British Council Christmas greeting. One was overlooked and left forgotten in a file. There have been others – another carol\, a pub-scene\, and Annunciation . . . but twelve is a good number.” \n‘Stuart Henson is an Eric Gregory Award winner and recipient of an Eastern Arts Bursary for ‘A Place Apart’ (Shoestring Press\, 2003) His most recent poetry collections are ‘Beautiful Monsters’ (Shoestring Press 2023)\, a New & Selected entitled ‘The Way You Know It’ and a haiku nature diary sequence of a year in rural Cambridgeshire\,  ‘A Handful of Wasps’ (2025). http://www.stuarthenson.co.uk/ \nJohn Crawford (melodeon and guitar) is well-known as a performer and musical collaborator in the world of folk music\, dance and drama and has played regularly at festivals\, theatres\,  arts centres and ceilidhs around the UK.  http://www.sheepishgrinmusic.com/ \nTwelve Days’ is a pamphlet-sized collection of poetry with a dozen wonderful illustrations by celebrated artist Bill Sanderson—for which he won the Michael Marks Illustrator’s Award in 2022. ‘Twelve Days’ will be available to purchase at the performance. \nTo book please visit Buy Framework Words & Music: Twelve Days Tickets online – Framework Knitters Museum \nImages used courtesy of Bill Sanderson.
